Best snoring apps for iPhone in 2026: an honest comparison

9 min read · Updated September 14, 2026

Search for the best snoring apps for iPhone and you get two kinds of pages: accessory shops recommending whatever links to their pillows, and app makers recommending themselves. We make one of these apps, so take that into account. What we can offer is the same seven questions asked of every app, including ours, with the answers taken from each app's own App Store listing rather than from memory or marketing. Short version: SnoreLab has the longest track record, Snollo and Sleep Cycle bring in Apple Watch data, Snore Recorder will mask your snoring for a partner, and Snorely is built to show you what makes your snoring worse and which remedy actually lowers your score. Details below.

How to judge a snoring app (the seven things that matter)

The App Store screenshots all look alike: a purple night sky, a waveform, a number. These are the differences you will notice after a week of use.

  1. Detection and intensity. Does it find the snores on its own, and does it tell you how loud, not just how many?
  2. Playback. Can you hear the clips it flagged? This is how you check the app is not counting the radiator.
  3. The free tier. Free to download means nothing on its own. What can you do before paying?
  4. Trends and history. One night is a curiosity. A month is information.
  5. Factors and remedies. Can you log what you tried (a mouthpiece, no wine, side sleeping) and see whether it moved the needle?
  6. Privacy. Where does eight hours of you asleep go? On-device analysis is the answer you want.
  7. Extras. Apple Watch data, sleep stages, soundscapes, alarms. Nice to have, and worth knowing which app is really a sleep tracker with snoring bolted on.

The apps, one by one

SnoreLab

The one everyone has heard of, on the App Store since 2012, and its listing says it has monitored more than 50 million nights. It detects snoring, records samples or the full night, gives you a Snore Score, compares nights, and lets you log remedies and lifestyle factors to see how they affect your results. It also has a breathing-stability analysis it calls BreathFlow, Apple Health sync, and 17 languages. Free to download with a subscription for the full set; the listing does not say what the free version limits, so look before you commit. If you want the most established option and the widest feature list, this is it. Already using it and thinking of leaving? We wrote a separate guide on SnoreLab alternatives that covers how to switch without losing your clips.

Snollo

A newer app (2025) whose pitch is privacy plus Apple Watch. Acoustic analysis runs on the iPhone, the listing says raw audio is never sent to external servers, and recordings live in your own private iCloud container. It records snoring and sleep talking, lets you review the noise events, and pulls heart rate, breathing rate and blood oxygen trends from the Watch into a daily sleep report with a sleep score. Sleep sounds and a dark interface round it out. Free to download with a subscription and a free trial. Nothing in the listing about logging factors or remedies, so it is a monitor more than a what-helps tool.

Snore Recorder - Sleep Monitor

The listing leads with AI: generated soundscapes, detection of snoring, talking and shouting, and an estimate of possible apnea episodes per interval (its own disclaimer says it is not a medical device, and we would treat that feature as a nudge to see a doctor, not a result). Its unusual trick is masking: when it hears you snore it plays a sound to cover it, for the benefit of whoever is next to you. You get a sleep diary, alarms and progress analytics. The instructions say to leave the app open beside the bed. No factor or remedy tracking in the listing, and it does not say how audio is handled.

Sleep Cycle

Not a snoring app so much as a sleep tracker that also listens for snoring, coughing and sleep talking. It tracks sleep with sound or the accelerometer, wakes you with a smart alarm, shows long-term trends against global benchmarks, and has an AI coach, sounds and stories. You can add sleep notes (caffeine, stress, exercise), which is a light version of factor tracking, but there is no remedy testing. Premium covers data export, Apple Health sync and the soundscapes. Choose it if snoring is one of several things you want to know about your sleep, not the main one.

Snorely

Ours, so read this part with your guard up. Snorely detects snoring on the phone and sorts each stretch by intensity, from light through loud to epic. You get a Snore Score from 0 to 100, an hour-by-hour chart, waveform playback with the loud moments pinned, and a choice between full recording and Smart Sampling to save storage. Trends run daily, weekly and monthly with a calendar heat map. The part we built the app around is the factor and remedy tracking: you log alcohol, sleep position, allergies or anything custom, and remedies like nasal strips, a mouthpiece or mouth tape, and the app ranks them by how much they moved your score. SnoreLab logs remedies too; Snorely's difference is the ranking by measured impact, custom entries, and a PDF report you can hand to a doctor. Extras: soundscapes that auto-start recording when they fade out, alarms that only fire during a session, a Live Activity on the lock screen. No Apple Watch app. Free to download; premium unlocks deeper trends, unlimited history and remedy tracking.

"Not stated" means the App Store listing does not say, as of September 2026. It is not a mark against the app, just a gap you should check in person.

Which one should you pick?

  • You want the longest track record and the most features: SnoreLab.
  • You wear an Apple Watch and want heart rate and blood oxygen next to your snoring: Snollo, or Sleep Cycle if you want the full sleep tracker.
  • Snoring is one of many things you are curious about: Sleep Cycle.
  • You mainly want to stop waking your partner tonight: Snore Recorder, for the masking.
  • You want to know why you snore and which remedy actually works for you, with numbers: Snorely. That is the question we built it to answer, and the reason the factor and remedy screens are the heart of the app rather than a tab.

Whichever you choose, the setup is the same: phone on the nightstand, an arm's length away, plugged in. We wrote up the details in how to record snoring on iPhone, and if you are not yet sure you snore at all, start here. Once you have a few nights, the remedies guide is where the testing begins.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free snoring app for iPhone?

All five apps here are free to download, and every one of them sells a subscription for the full feature set. What you get without paying differs, and most listings do not spell it out, so check inside the app before you rely on it. With Snorely the free part is the part that matters for a first answer: record a night, get your Snore Score, see your first insights. Premium adds deeper trends, unlimited history and remedy tracking.

Which snoring app is the most accurate?

None of them is a clinical instrument, and any app that implies otherwise is overselling. What you can check for yourself is whether the app lets you hear what it counted. If it plays back the clips it flagged as snoring, you can verify it in thirty seconds. If it only gives you a number, you are taking its word for it. Placement matters as much as the app: our guide on how to record snoring on iPhone covers where to put the phone.

Do snoring apps work with Apple Watch?

The microphone is always on the phone; no app on this list records snoring from the wrist. Snollo and Sleep Cycle use the Watch for extra data (heart rate, breathing rate, sleep stages) alongside the phone's recording. Snorely has no Apple Watch app. If you only want to know whether you snore at all, you do not need a watch for that, and our guide on how to know if you snore explains why.

Can a snoring app detect sleep apnea?

No app on this page is a medical device, including Snorely, and each of their listings says so. A couple advertise breathing analysis or apnea-episode estimates; treat those as a prompt to see a doctor, not as a result. What a recording can do is capture gasps, choking sounds and long pauses so you have something concrete to bring to an appointment. Snoring vs sleep apnea explains what to listen for, and the NHS page on snoring lists when to see a GP.
